(
Macao, September 9, 2019) – For the 13th consecutive year, Sands China Ltd. has made a donation to six Macao tertiary institutions for scholarships and fellowships, continuing its annual tradition of supporting higher education in Macao. The MOP 1 million dollars in total donations was presented to representatives of the educational institutions at a cheque presentation ceremony Sep. 5 at The Venetian® Macao.

The annual donation is a testament to the company’s support of local students, in acknowledgement of the importance of higher education in nurturing Macao’s talent.

“Sands China remains committed to investing in local talent development, which is crucial for our company and for Macao as a whole,” said Dr. Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China Ltd. “We will continue to work with higher education institutions to nurture talent in Macao – individuals who will contribute to our city’s continued development and diversification as a world centre of tourism and leisure.”

Wen Hongyan, senior vice president of human resources for Sands China Ltd., said: “The students of today will become the leaders of tomorrow. We believe in the importance of investing in the future of Macao, and have therefore offered annual scholarships and fellowship to improve students’ motivation. Sands China will continue to move with the times and develop innovative human resource initiatives to nurture integrated resort professionals.”

With Thursday’s donation, Sands China’s total contribution toward scholarships and fellowships since 2006 now exceeds MOP 10 million, benefitting over 1,200 students to date.
