Sands China Remains Strong Supporter of UGAMM
Sponsorship of haircuts for elderly, among other initiatives
(Macao,
October
22, 2019) –
With corporate social
responsibility remaining a key area of focus
for Sands China Ltd., the company continues
to maintain its ongoing support to Macao’s
various social service organisations.
Recently, Sands China again sponsored the
elderly haircut initiative launched by the
General Union of Neighbourhood Associations
of Macau (UGAMM).
Since 2010, Sands China has been a supporter
of UGAMM’s programmes and has donated MOP 2
million to the organisation to date,
benefiting nearly 6,800 live-alone
elderly.
The company has been a supporter of the Peng
On Tung Tele-Assistance programme since
2010, has been providing a home maintenance
team for the elderly since 2015, and has
supported the elderly haircut initiative
since 2016. Sands China sponsored this
year’s UGAMM Haircut for the Elderly event –
which was attended by 300 elderly UGAMM
members – and presented UGAMM with a
ceremonial donation cheque for MOP 240,000
at the event.
“UGAMM remains a valuable partner in working
to better our shared community,” said Dr.
Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China Ltd.
“Macao’s elderly are a living treasure to be
cherished, and Sands China is pleased to
show how much we value this important part
of our community through our support of
UGAMM, an organisation that continues to
work tirelessly for the benefit of Macao’s
elderly community.”
Leong Heng Kao, president of the General
Union of Neighbourhood Associations of
Macau, said: “UGAMM is very grateful for
Sands China’s many years of support. Like
us, they believe in fostering community
harmony and solidarity, and in promoting
care and respect to senior citizens. Their
contributions – of time, energy, and funds –
have been an important source of advancement
and promotion for UGAMM. We look forward to
many more years of service together.”
