Sands Cares Ambassadors Support 50th Anniversary Caritas Macau Charity Bazaar
Sands China’s ninth consecutive year of manning game booth
(Macao,
November
3, 2019) –
A group of around 100
Sands Cares Ambassadors volunteered at the
50th Caritas Macau Charity Bazaar at Nam Van
Lake Nautical Centre Saturday and Sunday by
manning a game booth to raise funds for the
nongovernmental organisation. It is Sands
China’s ninth year in a row to help raise
funds for Caritas at its annual charity
event.
Sam Chongnin, vice president of corporate
communications and community affairs for
Venetian Macau Limited, presented a MOP
200,000 ceremonial cheque to Caritas Macau
Secretary-General Paul Pun Chi Meng at the
opening ceremony of the bazaar
Saturday.
Through events such as charity runs and
bazaars, Sands China has contributed more
than MOP 4.7 million to the non-profit since
2004. The funds help support Caritas Macau’s
operational expenses and its efforts to
develop and implement social services in the
community.
At this year’s event, Sands China was one of
three integrated resort operators invited by
Caritas to print the company’s logo on one
of four Caritas Macau Charity Bazaar 50th
anniversary commemorative model cars to
raise funds. Sands China donated MOP 70,000
in total for the production of 1,000 model
cars.
Around 100 Sands Cares Ambassadors in total
volunteered during the weekend charity
bazaar to run Sands China’s game booth.
Visitors to the booth won prizes like hotel
stays at The Parisian Macao and tickets to
its Eiffel Tower; first-class ferry tickets
on Cotai Water Jet; and Sands Resorts Macao
food and beverage vouchers, theatre tickets
and Qube kids’ play zone tickets.
As it does each year, Sands China is
donating all proceeds from the booths –
without deducting costs – to Caritas Macau.
The donation helps Caritas offer relief and
rehabilitation services and support to
disadvantaged groups in Macao.
The Sands Cares Ambassador programme was
established in August 2009 to give Sands
China team members an outlet for serving the
local community by organising community
activities and initiatives that work toward
creating a better Macao. With membership of
more than 3,300 volunteers from across all
Sands China properties – Sands®
Macao, The Venetian® Macao, The
Plaza® Macao, Sands®
Cotai Central and The Parisian Macao – the
Sands Cares Ambassadors have contributed
100,000 hours of voluntary community service
since the programme’s founding.
The Sands Cares Ambassador programme is part
of Sands
Cares, the
global corporate citizenship programme of
parent company Las Vegas Sands Corp.
