(
Macao, November 5, 2019) – Sands China Ltd.’s human resources department recently won four awards, highlighting the company’s focus on team member satisfaction and its success and creativity in standing out in the industry.

Sands China received a 2019 VeryEast Award for Best Employer of the Tourism & Hospitality Industry for the company’s recruitment strategy, employee experience and its dedication to mapping out expansive human resource resolutions that are in harmony with corporate sustainability.

The VeryEast Awards are the most well-known awards in mainland China’s tourism and hospitality industry, and have been held for the last six years. The awards feature hundreds of brands in industries such as hotel, food and beverage, aviation, cruise ship travel, tourism colleges, and others.

The company was also a winner in the 2019 Greater China Employer Branding Creativity Awards, and was recognised with three awards: Best Creative Copywriting of Employer Brand, Best Innovative Employee C&B Program, and Best Social Recruitment Program. The annual awards are co-organised by renowned HR organisations and employer brand experts in Greater China Wings, K Talks and HRflag, and aim to honour companies with high-profile and innovative employer brands that demonstrate the power of employer branding to a wider audience. Only around 50 companies were awarded out of 405 nominees that included Tencent, Kraft Heinz and WeWork, with Sands China as the only winner from Macao.

Wen Hongyan, senior vice president of human resources for Sands China Ltd., was invited to share her insights on the latest trends in employer brand communications at a roundtable discussion at the awards ceremony.

“As Macao’s largest integrated resort operator and private employer, Sands China believes that nurturing talent is the major driver of sustaining the company and the community’s development,” said Wen. “We are pleased that our innovative approaches are being recognised by human resource organisations in Greater China. This achievement encourages us to continue contributing to Macao’s growth as a world centre of tourism and leisure, and to play a leading role in helping build Macao into an international talent incubator in the Greater Bay Area.”

Sands China is committed to developing a well-trained workforce, and offers a variety of horizontal and vertical mobility opportunities to its team members through internal promotions and integrated resort career development programmes. The company is dedicated to providing horizontal and vertical management talent development and professionalism training for its team members. It also has expanded its focus to providing training for the development of industry professionals outside of Sands China in order to create a talent pool for the city’s future development. The company delivered more than 1.7 million training hours to team members and Macao locals in 2018 alone, and recently celebrated the graduation of a total of 6,200 participants from Sands China’s talent development initiatives in 2018-2019.

Sands China’s previous human resources awards include three awards each in the 2018 and 2019 HRoot Awards for the company’s innovative talent development and management initiatives, including Best HR Center of Excellence in Greater China 2019, Best HR Shared Service Center in Greater China 2019 and Best HR Teams in Greater China 2019. The HRoot Awards is the most highly-regarded human resources industry award ceremony in the Greater China region. Past award recipients all feature in the world’s top 500 enterprises.
