Part of company’s MOP 5 million COVID-19 relief fund
(Macao,
February
25, 2020) –
Sands China Ltd. donated
MOP 1 million Monday to four Macao NGOs to
assist their efforts to provide economic
assistance to families adversely affected by
the novel coronavirus (COVID-19)
epidemic.
The four
beneficiaries – Caritas Macau, Fuhong
Society of Macau, Macau Special Olympics and
the Association of Parents of the People
with Intellectual Disabilities of Macau –
are each receiving MOP 250,000 to help them
provide economic support to more than 500 of
their service user
families.
“Macao’s local NGOs
have long provided essential services to
help care for some of the more vulnerable
members of our local community,” said Dr.
Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China Ltd.
“In providing this essential public service,
they deserve our gratitude, and Sands China
is pleased to be able to offer their service
users our financial support during this
critical time of addressing the challenges
brought about by the novel coronavirus
epidemic.”
Hetzer Siu Yu Hong,

Olympics, said: Our thanks go to Sands China
for their ongoing support to the vulnerable
members of the community. Their company has

help alleviate imminent financial hardships
for our members’
households.”
Paul Pun Chi Meng,
secretary-general of Caritas Macau, said:
“Sands China knows that Caritas Macau is
committed to fighting the epidemic by
maintaining a 24-hour service for its
service users, and is donating MOP 250,000
to help us purchase more products for
additional preventive measures to combat the
spread of the coronavirus. It demonstrates
Sands China’s care for the local community,
and will in turn contribute to creating a
brighter future for
Macao.”
Wong Kam Fong,
chairlady of the executive board of the
Association of Parents of the People with
Intellectual Disabilities of Macau, said:
“We are thankful to Sands China for caring
for people with intellectual disabilities
and their families and for all the donations
they have made over the years. This epidemic
has indeed impacted Macao and especially its
underprivileged families. This donation from
Sands China is truly a timely assistance to
our families to help them address their
urgent needs. It also allows our members to
feel the love and care of
society.”
Maria de Fatima
Salvador dos Santos Ferreira, president of
the general assembly of Fuhong Society of
Macau, said: “Our daily lives have
experienced great change in the fight
against the coronavirus, and the economic
and daily living impact on disabled and
underprivileged families requires more
attention. We are pleased to receive
assistance from Sands China during this
difficult time, and are grateful for their
offer of support and care for people in
need.”
