(Macao,
June
24, 2020) –
Sands China Ltd. hosted
a seminar for team members and local youth
Tuesday at The Parisian Macao, about the
recent sessions of the National People’s
Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People's
Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC),
and the One Country, Two Systems policy.
Its goal was to help
participants develop an in-depth
understanding of the spirit of the NPC and
CPPCC sessions, and of One Country, Two
Systems, and to examine how these ideas can
be implemented in Macao.
Entitled the
Sands China Distinguished Speaker
Series – Applying the Spirit of NPC and
CPPCC, and One Country, Two Systems in
Macao, the seminar was led by
three distinguished guests: Ho Sut Heng,
member of the NPC and president of the Macao
Federation of Trade Unions; Ho Teng Iat,
vice chairman of the Committee for Liaison
with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas
Chinese of the National Committee of the
CPPCC, and president of The Women's General
Association of Macau; and Ho King Lun,
member of the NPC and president of the
Industry and Commerce Association of
Macau.
Around 300 people
attended the seminar, including management
team members and youth from the community.
Guests of honour were Zhu Hong, deputy
director-general of the Economic Affairs
Department of the Central People’s
Government Liaison Office in Macau, and
Leong Man Ion, deputy director of the Gaming
Inspection and Coordination
Bureau.
In her remarks, Ho
Sut Heng suggested that Macao cooperate with
Hengqin to further promote tourism, through
measures such as developing tourist
attractions with special features and
establishing a new mechanism to facilitate
cross-border mobility.
Ho Teng Iat said
that studying the spirit of the NPC and
CPPCC allows participants to gain a better
understanding of the country’s development
and its support for Macao. The city should
always be confident about the implementation
of One Country, Two Systems and continue to
promote and make full use of the policy with
Macao characteristics. She also encouraged
participants to equip themselves and enhance
their competitiveness to embrace the
opportunities of the Greater Bay Area, so as
to integrate into national development as
soon as
possible.
Ho King Lun talked
about the national plan on COVID-19
recovery, and suggested that Macao should
better utilise resources in the Greater Bay
Area to promote economic diversification. He
also encouraged participants in the seminar
to unite while going through tough
times.
The seminar was
moderated by Sands China Ltd. President Dr.
Wilfred Wong, who said: “It is crucial that
our team members fully understand the
direction of national policy, as the destiny
of our nation and Macao are intertwined.
With the advantage of One Country, Two
Systems and support from our motherland, we
are sure that Macao is going to thrive again
as the economy recovers from the pandemic.
We hope the information shared in today’s
distinguished speaker series can help team
