Part of company’s professionalism education efforts to familiarise team members with latest market trends
(Macao,
July
30, 2020) –
Sands China Ltd. hosted
a seminar for team members Wednesday at The
Parisian Macao, on the analysis of Macao’s
economic development over the past decade –
using a data-driven approach. Around 300
team members attended the seminar, including
local youth who have participated in Sands
China’s various talent development
programmes.
The objective of the
seminar was to familiarise team members with
the integrated resort business environment
by enhancing their in-depth understanding of
the latest trends in the hospitality and
tourism industry, through examining
statistics and
facts.
Entitled
Professionalism Education for Sands
China Team Members – A Data-Driven
Analysis of Macao’s Economy,
the seminar was facilitated by Statistics
and Census Service (DSEC) representatives,
who explained key concepts such as tourist
consumption and tourism-related industry
profiles, and discussed changes and demands
in the human resources market. Team members
proactively participated in the seminar’s
Q&A session, showing enthusiasm for learning
more about the
topic.
“Big data and
economic statistics provide a solid
foundation for our decision-making process
in the integrated resorts business,” said
Dr. Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China
Ltd. “Our thanks go to the DSEC for their
continuous support and guidance; the
knowledge and insights they shared have
surely enhanced our team members’
understanding of the business environment,
thus allowing us to continuously enhance our
service standards, and to make valuable
contributions to the economic
diversification of Macao and the development
of the city into a world centre of tourism
and leisure.”
One team member
Eduardo Kong, a revenue optimization and
distribution manager, said: “Macao’s tourism
industry has undergone noticeable changes in
recent years. The sharing at this seminar
has enabled us to deliver personalised
services and offerings according to consumer
behaviour and travellers’
needs.”
Wednesday’s seminar
is part of Sands China’s ongoing effort to
promote professionalism education, and to
comprehensively strengthen employee
knowledge of the business environment as
well as national development, so as to make
essential contributions to the development
of Macao into a world centre of tourism and
leisure. Sands China has been committed to
improving the professionalism of its 29,000
team members through over 20 initiatives,
