Sands Cares Ambassadors Participate in 51st Caritas Macau Charity Bazaar
Sands China’s tenth consecutive year of manning game booth
(Macao,
Nov.
9, 2020) –
Around 140 Sands Cares
Ambassadors volunteered at the 51st Caritas
Macau Charity Bazaar at Nam Van Lake
Nautical Centre Saturday and Sunday, where
they ran a game booth to raise funds for
Caritas. It is Sands China’s tenth straight
year helping raise funds for Caritas at its
annual charity
event.
At the opening
ceremony of the bazaar Saturday, Sam
Chongnin, vice president of corporate
communications and community affairs for
Venetian Macau Limited, presented a
ceremonial cheque for MOP 200,000 to Caritas
Macau Secretary-General Paul Pun Chi
Meng.
Since 2004, Sands
China has contributed nearly MOP 5 million
to Caritas Macau through its support of
events such as charity runs and bazaars. The
funds help support Caritas Macau’s
operational expenses and its efforts to
develop and implement social services in the
community.
During the weekend
charity bazaar, a total of around 140 Sands
Cares Ambassadors helped run Sands China’s
game booth. Visitors to the booth won prizes
like hotel stays at The Parisian Macao and
tickets to its Eiffel Tower, Sands Resorts
Macao food and beverage vouchers, gondola
ride tickets, and tickets to teamLab
SuperNature Macao at The
Venetian®
Macao.
All proceeds from
Sands China’s booth will be donated to
Caritas Macau, without deducting costs. The
donation helps Caritas offer relief and
rehabilitation services and support to
disadvantaged groups in
Macao.
Sands China was the
first integrated resort operator in Macao to
formally establish a volunteer team when it
launched the Sands Cares Ambassador
programme in August 2009. The programme
gives Sands China team members a platform
for serving the local community by
organising community activities and
initiatives that work toward creating a
better Macao. With membership of 3,300
volunteers from across all Sands China
properties – Sands® Macao, The
Venetian Macao, The Plaza® Macao,
Sands® Cotai Central and The
Parisian Macao – the Sands Cares Ambassadors
have contributed close to 110,000 hours of
voluntary community service with more than
450 activities since the programme’s
founding.
The Sands Cares
Ambassador programme is part of Sands Cares,
the global corporate citizenship programme
of parent company Las Vegas Sands
Corp.
