Sands Cares Ambassadors Show Love to Children in Need Ahead of Children's Day
Over 2,500 gift packs brought to more than 60 children's centres
(Macao, June 16, 2021) – Sands China Ltd.
recently partnered with Fuhong Society of Macau to
deliver gift packs to a number of children's centres in
celebration of World Children's Day.
In the days
leading up to the June 1 global holiday, a group of
Sands Cares Ambassadors joined Fuhong members to show
love and care to children in need, passing out more than
2,500 gift packs during their visits to 63 providers of
children's services, including the Vila Lok Tou
Residential Care Service Unit, H.K.S.K.H. Astor Shore
and the Child Protection Centre of the Against Child
Abuse (Macau)
Association.
The gift packs
were purchased from Fuhong to provide a platform for
persons with disabilities to showcase their talents.
Each gift pack contained stationery, snacks, and a
diamond art keychain, which the Ambassadors and service
users from Fuhong made
together.
The
Ambassadors learnt more about the services provided by
the children's centres during their visits, enriching
their experience in this area and paving the way for
them to develop more of such initiatives in the
future.
"It is our
hope that initiatives like these can help promote social
harmony, as part of Sands China's efforts to give back
to the local community and encourage social inclusion,"
said Dr. Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China Ltd. "We
are grateful to the local children's organisations we
visited and are proud of our Ambassadors for their
continued service to the community as they put into
practice the company's core values by carrying out these
and other corporate social responsibility efforts."
Vinci Ip, a
social worker from H.K.S.K.H. Astor Shore, said: "Our
gratitude goes to Sands China for its continued support
and attention to our services. Sands Cares Ambassadors
have paid attention to adolescents' developmental needs,
and we are pleased to have started a meaningful
conversation with the volunteer group about the
situation of adolescents in Macao. We are looking
forward to working with Sands China and bringing more
possibilities to these
teenagers."
The Sands
Cares Ambassador programme was established in August
2009 to give Sands China team members an outlet for
serving the local community by organising community
activities and initiatives that work toward creating a
better Macao. With membership of more than 3,300
volunteers from across all Sands China properties –
Sands® Macao, The Venetian® Macao,
The Plaza® Macao, The Parisian Macao and The
Londoner® Macao – the Sands Cares Ambassadors
have contributed more than 130,000 hours of voluntary
community service since the programme's
founding.
The Fuhong
Society of Macau is one of the first NGOs that the Sands
Cares Ambassador programme began collaborating with,
going back to 2009. With its partnership with Fuhong
over the years, Sands China will continue to promote
social inclusion through different initiatives,
including offering people with disabilities chances to
showcase their talent in
art.
Sands China
Ltd. considers initiatives like the recent visits to the
children's centres as central to its commitment toward
social causes and community involvement. The company's
community work is part of Sands Cares, the global
corporate citizenship programme of parent company Las
Vegas Sands
Corp.
