Sands China Hosts Guangdong Medical Team Assisting Macao's Mass Nucleic Acid Testing
(Macao, August 8, 2021) – Sands China Ltd. has
been proactively cooperating with the Macao SAR
government's epidemic prevention policy during the
pandemic period. With the support of the central
government and under the coordination of the Liaison
Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao
SAR, Guangdong province recently organised a group of
more than 300 medical professionals to assist Macao with
its mass nucleic acid testing programme. During this
period, Sands China provided comprehensive service
arrangements for the medical team at one of its
integrated resorts during their
stay.
With the
city's mass testing programme now basically complete, a
farewell ceremony was held Sunday for the Guangdong
medical team, who were given gift bags as a token of
appreciation for their hard work. Around 100 guests
attended the ceremony, including Ao Ieong U, secretary
for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR; Yan
Zhichan, deputy director of the Liaison Office of the
Central People's Government in the Macao SAR;
representatives of the Guangdong medical team; Chai
Hongliang, deputy director of the Zhuhai Health
Education Office; Song Li Hong, director of the general
office of the Liaison Office of the Central People's
Government in the Macao SAR; Wan Su Cheng, director
general of the Department of Publicity and Culture of
the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in
the Macao SAR; Alvis Lo Iek Long, director of the Health
Bureau of the Macao SAR; and Dr. Wilfred Wong, president
of Sands China
Ltd.
Dr. Wong said:
"In response to a potential outbreak, the Macao SAR
government acted swiftly and decisively to launch a
series of emergency measures, which has won public
support from all sectors of society. Our deepest
gratitude goes to all Macao healthcare workers for their
selfless dedication, and to mainland authorities for
sending more than 300 medical professionals to Macao for
support – together helping the city successfully
complete its mass testing programme in three days. Sands
China was honoured to have the opportunity to host the
Guangdong medical team during their stay and to play our
part in assisting in the fight against COVID-19 and
safeguarding our
community."
