Seminar led by NPC local deputy Kevin Ho King Lun
(Macao,
Oct. 26, 2021) – A group of Sands China team
members got an overview of the nation's 14th Five-Year
Plan Tuesday at The Parisian Macao, at a seminar
delivered by Kevin Ho King Lun, local deputy to the
National People's Congress (NPC) and president of the
Industry and Commerce Association of
Macau.
Entitled the
Sands China Distinguished Speaker Forum Series – A
Deeper Understanding of the Development of China and
the Future of Macao, the latest instalment in
the seminar series is part of the company's ongoing
effort to build professionalism and deepen understanding
of national development. Around 250 Sands China team
members attended, including local youth who have
participated in Sands China's various talent development
programmes.
Ho's overview
of China's 14th Five-Year Plan focused on Macao's
positioning and its role in the development of
Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin,
examined against the historical background of the rise
of modern
China.
"It is
important for our team members to obtain an
understanding of the nation's development, so that they
can gain a big-picture perspective of the business
environment in both Macao and in the mainland," said Dr.
Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China Ltd. "The 14th
Five-Year Plan and the Master Plan have provided fresh
impetus for Macao's long-term development and we are
grateful to Mr. Ho for taking the time to share his
insights with us. We hope Sands China team members will
be inspired to make contributions to the economic
diversification and long-term prosperity of Macao for
its integration into the overall national development
plan."
Ho stated:
"It's an honor to be invited by Sands China to do this
sharing session. With this introduction and sharing, I
hope that both Sands China team members and fresh
graduates can have new ideas about the future
development of our country and Macao in order to clarify
their directions and stimulate their motivations. Not
only can integrating their ideals with the development
of the country and Macao help accomplish their career
goals, but can also contribute to a better tomorrow in
Macao. That's the meaning of today's 'A Deeper
Understanding of the Development of China and the Future
of Macao' sharing
session."
Sands China
team members were keen to learn more about the topics
and got a chance to ask their questions during the
seminar's Q&A portion. One of those in attendance, Annie
Lam, director of community affairs said: "This seminar
has given me a notion of the business environment in
China, including its plans for future development and
its forward-looking strategies. More importantly, I
learnt more about Macao's role in the nation's tourism
and cultural promotion enterprise, and such
understanding has driven me to make greater
contributions to the prosperous development of the
tourism
sector."
