Sands China Launches New Hands-On Talent Development Programme for MPI Students and Alumni
'Art Talent Development Showcase x Sands China' offers real-world experience
(Macao,
Nov. 14, 2021) – A newly launched programme,
Art Talent Development Showcase x Sands China, is
offering students and recent alumni of the Macao
Polytechnic Institute's School of Arts a chance to work
on projects for Sands China
Ltd.
The new
initiative provides real-life opportunities for its
participants to apply what they have learned in the
classroom by completing projects for Sands China – such
as creating videos and doing graphic design work for
promotional materials for some of the company's internal
events and promotions. They will also learn more about
the business environment and gain opportunities to boost
their versatility.
Art Talent
Development Showcase x Sands China is a
collaborative project between Sands China Ltd., the
Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) and the Macao
Polytechnic Institute Alumni
Association.
It launched
Friday with an opening ceremony at The
Venetian® Macao's Adelson Advanced Education
Centre, attended by MPI students and alumni, along with
participants from some of Sands China's diversified
talent development programmes.
Sands China
Ltd. President Dr. Wilfred Wong said: “We are very
pleased that this new programme lets MPI students and
recent alumni take advantage of the opportunities
provided by Sands China's extensive integrated resort
portfolio to showcase and sharpen their skills and carry
out their creative visions. We'd like to express our
gratitude to MPI and the alumni association for this
chance to work together to help cultivate qualified
professionals with versatile talents for Macao – with
the hope of continuing to contribute to Macao's
talent-building enterprise and to help drive Macao's
development as a world centre of tourism and
leisure.”
As part of the
programme, MPI includes Art Talent Development Showcase
x Sands China assignments as a practical session in its
courses for students to gain experience. As working
professionals in their field, members of the Alumni
Association then give professional feedback on the
students' and alumni's works, ensuring that they are up
to MPI's and Sands China's standards. Moving forward,
the collaboration may be extended to other MPI schools
to help cultivate more
talent.
Officiating
guests at the opening ceremony were Marcus Im Sio Kei,
president of Macao Polytechnic Institute; Wong U Kei,
chairman of the board of directors of MPI's Alumni
Association; and Dr.
Wong.
Art Talent
Development Showcase x Sands China is part of
the company's ongoing efforts to support the Macao
government's policy of “building Macao with talent.”
Sands China Ltd. believes that through cooperating with
universities, government departments and educational
institutions, the company will be able to help cultivate
more all-round professionals in integrated resort
management endowed with an international perspective and
a spectrum of versatile
skills.
