region for its effective and innovative human
resources initiatives and on-the-job training
programmes.
Among its many
accolades, Sands China was the only Macao-based company
honoured at the 2021 Employer Branding Creativity Awards
– putting it in the company of other well-respected
winners such as Tencent, Vivo, Ralph Lauren, CROCS,
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and ByteDance. Sands
China also won the 2020 Innovative Human Resource
Management Outstanding Business Value Award – Gold
Award at the inaugural National Human Resource
Management (Service) Innovation Competition last
year.
"As a company
rooted in Macao for nearly 20 years, Sands China has
always placed people at the heart of its strategy, and
that's why we have developed a wide array of human
resources initiatives for our team members," said Wen
Hongyan, Sands China's senior vice president of human
resources. "Our goal is to encourage team spirit and to
support team members' holistic, all-round development in
order to create a positive employee experience at the
workplace and beyond. Sands China is proud of these
impactful initiatives, and we are grateful for the
industry's recognition of our efforts to elevate team
member care to higher and higher
levels."
Through its
innovative human resources practices, Sands China has
enhanced the employee experience, while racking up
multiple honours and awards along the
way:
"Be a
Londoner Guide" – Strengthening team members'
confidence through learning
Inspired by the legendary knowledge test for London taxi
drivers, Sands China's "Be a Londoner Guide" programme
aims to help team members improve their level of
customer service and all-round skills by enhancing their
product knowledge about the company's newest property on
the Cotai Strip – The Londoner® Macao. Team
members are also encouraged to promote the property's
range of products and services through we-media
platforms to boost sales effectiveness. The "Be a
Londoner Guide" programme was selected as the Best
Innovative Employee Experience at the 2021
Employer Branding Creativity Awards for its innovative
marketing approach.
Employee
Wellness and Parent-Child Activities – Promoting
health and family harmony
Sands China is committed to promoting the health and
well-being of its team members. With that in mind, the
company organised a series of back-of-house roadshows in
2021 to help team members understand and manage stress –
using a professional, systematic and diversified
approach. Various parent-child activities, such as
storytelling workshops, parenting seminars and talent
shows, were also held to promote family harmony. Through
such initiatives, Sands China was recognised as the
Best HR Teams in Greater China at the 2021 HRoot
Awards.
Golden Age
Programme – Offering post-career benefits to elderly
team members
The Golden Age Programme supports elderly team members
who are ready to begin a new chapter of their lives by
providing them with a wide range of post-career
benefits. Programme participants can enjoy a variety of
lifelong discounts and benefits on par with those of
Sands China team members. These include free access to
activities like leisure classes and gatherings,
unlimited opportunities to join company-sponsored
community events, four years of complimentary annual
health check-ups, and a Golden Age allowance in 18
monthly instalments. The programme's honours include
recognition in the Greater China region as the Best
Total Rewards Innovation Plan at the Total

Programs of the Year at the HR Flag Awards, and
the Best Innovative Employee C&B Program and
Best Creative Copywriting of Employer Brand at
the Employer Branding Creativity Awards.
Sands
China's HR Team – Constantly exploring cutting-edge
innovations
Sands China has been implementing innovative elements in
its human resources strategies to ensure that team
members grow along with the company. The company's human
resources team continues to innovate in the fields of
management strategies, corporate culture, talent
development, talent pool management, employee benefits,
and diversified development. That commitment led to
Sands China winning 10 human resources awards, including
the 2020 Innovative Human Resource Management
Outstanding Business Value Award – Gold Award at
the National Human Resource Management (Service)
Innovation Competition.
Sands China
has long strived to nurture and improve local talent,
contributing to Macao's development as a World Centre of
Tourism and Leisure. The longevity of team members'
service testifies to the success of that strategy, as
the number of team members that have reached their
10-year company anniversaries approaches 10,000. Another
testament is the significant growth in the percentage of
local residents among Sands China's management team
members, which has soared from 20 per cent in 2004 to 91
per cent in 2021.
