5 Local Micro Films Premiere at The Londoner Macao
2022 New Art Studies in Filming – Micro Movie Support Program
(Macao,
Mar. 26, 2023) – Five locally produced micro
movies premiered at The Londoner® Macao
Sunday, as part of the 2022 New Art Studies in
Filming – Micro Movie Support Program, which was
organized by the Creative Industries Promotion
Association of St. Lazarus Church District (CIPA) and
sponsored by Sands China
Ltd.
The annual
program focuses on enhancing the skills and abilities of
local film and television creative professionals to
cultivate talent in the industry. It is dedicated to
supporting local new-generation filmmakers to produce
micro movies and providing local producers with filming
opportunities, thereby bolstering the development of
filmmaking talent in Macao. The program includes courses
that cover topics such as directing, screenwriting,
acting, make-up artistry, editing, and special
effects.
A total of 22
teams submitted applications for movie production via
the program. After a professional judging process, five
teams were selected and funded to produce their micro
movies based on their concepts. Involving over 150
people in total, the five teams worked for over half a
year to complete filming and
post-production.
The five
completed micro movies unveiled at Sunday's premiere at
The Londoner Theatre were "D'oro Bistro," "Travel in
Place," "Unlock," "The List," and "Hang
Up."
Patrick Wong
Sio Chon, president of CIPA, said: "The New Art Studies
in Filming – Micro Movie Support Program was organized
with the aims of promoting the continued development of
Macao's film and cultural industries and enhancing the

their support in making this premiere a success, and for
providing a platform for local new-generation filmmakers
to showcase their talents and creativity. We will
continue our efforts in organizing events and fostering
collaborations with various stakeholders to facilitate
Macao's moderate economic
diversification."
Dr. Wilfred
Wong, president of Sands China Ltd., said: "Our sincere
appreciation goes to CIPA for the launch of the New Art
Studies in Filming – Micro Movie Support Program again
this year. Sands China's sponsorship of this program
demonstrates the company's commitment to nurturing local
filmmakers – in line with the Macao SAR government's
policy of moderate economic diversification and the
'tourism + art' initiative. By offering local young
people who aspire to build a career in the film industry
the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in a
real-world setting, we hope to sow the seeds of art in
the soil of Macao – in a bid to nurture more home-grown
filmmaking talent for the sustainable development of
Macao's film
industry."
