Jacky Cheung Sets New Show Records at The Venetian Macao's Cotai Arena

12 concert nights delight over 109,000 fans, generating economic benefits for Macao

(Macao, Jul 9, 2023) – Cantopop superstar Jacky Cheung performed a record-breaking 12 shows at The Venetian® Macao's Cotai Arena between June 9 and July 2, selling more than 109,000 tickets on the first leg of his 10th world tour, the FWD Insurance 10th Anniversary Presents: Jacky Cheung 60+ Concert Tour. Originally slated for six nights only, the number of shows doubled after quickly selling out.

With this tour, the ever-popular "God of Songs" made his triumphant return to the Cotai Arena, having last performed in Macao five years ago for his previous concert tour, Jacky Cheung A Classic Tour in Macao, which is regarded as one of the most iconic performances ever staged in Macao.

The impact of Cheung's 12-show world tour kick-off was felt well beyond the Cotai Arena stage. "I believe the shows also helped stimulate domestic consumption and boost the local economy," said Lawrence Che, founder and CEO of Chessman Entertainment Production and director general of the Macau Federal Commercial Association of the Convention & Exhibition Industry.

Dr. Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China Ltd., said: "Sands China has been committed to supporting the Macao SAR government's policy of moderate economic diversification, and the measurable economic results of an event like this – such as attracting high-spending consumers – are very affirming. Rooted in Macao for over two decades, Sands China is well-known for bringing the biggest entertainment acts in Asia and from around the world to Macao. We will continue to bring top-tier performers to the city to support the development of the 'concert economy' and the Macao government's '1+4' economic diversification strategy."

In order to drive more international tourism to Macao and increase the number of first-time and repeat visitors, Sands China will continue bringing in A-list concerts, sporting events, theatre productions, and other new-to-market attractions. The company's new 6,000-seat The Londoner Arena has added to Sands China's already impressive ability to accommodate a wide range of event types, including large-scale MICE events. Meanwhile, Sands China is investing in and upgrading the Cotai Arena, further confirming the company's commitment to leading entertainment and sporting events in Macao.

Sands China's property portfolio includes six world-class entertainment venues, with a combined capacity of over 26,000 seats. To date, more than 4.6 million people have attended the venues' more than 610 performances.
