Sands China Celebrates International Women’s Day with Team Members

Gifts of soap flowers and a special back-of-house celebration event

(Macao, Mar 7, 2025) – Sands China Ltd. marked International Women’s Day with its team members Friday with gifts and a celebration, continuing an annual tradition of expressing appreciation for the indispensable contributions that women make to the workplace, family, and society.

In every department, Sands China’s management team presented soap flowers to all of its female team members, offering them the company’s sincere gratitude for their dedication and contributions.

At The Venetian^® Macao’s back-of-house team member restaurant, an International Women’s Day celebration aimed to empower and inspire attendees through casual sharing on women-related topics. In order to promote unity and shared purpose, parallel events were held at all Sands’ global properties to express the company’s appreciation for its female team members.

The event was organised and hosted by the Sands EmpowHER team member resource group. Sands EmpowHER is a global, women-led diversity and inclusion initiative that aims to connect female team members to create opportunities for networking and development on a voluntary basis.

Las Vegas Sands Co-founder Dr. Miriam Adelson delivered words of encouragement to the gathered team members through a special video message. By sharing her impactful insights via the fireside chat, the event sought to encourage team members to keep acquiring knowledge and strive for achievements in the future.

Grant Chum, chief executive officer and executive director of Sands China Ltd., said: “Our 27,000 team members are the backbone of our company and its most valuable asset. At Sands China, half of these team members are women who devote themselves to our day-to-day operations. Many of these female team members also balance their responsibilities at work with those at home. By encouraging and nurturing their career development, our female team members are able to fully contribute and lead at all levels of our operations – making invaluable contributions to the company in every department. The entire celebration was livestreamed to back-of-house team member areas at The Venetian Macao, The Parisian^® Macao, The Londoner^® Macao, and Sands^® Macao. In addition, highlights from Dr. Adelson’s message were shared with all 27,000 team members via company intranet and back-of-house TV screens at Sands China’s properties. The event also featured Virginia Lam, executive vice president and chief customer officer of Sands China Ltd., who gave insights about her experiences in achieving a successful career. Her sharing brought the event to an end on a joyful note.

Sands China’s EmpowHER team member resource group promotes its aims through networking, developmental programmes, mentorship, and community engagement. For many of the women in the group, mentoring has been one of the prime benefits of participation. EmpowHER’s mentorship programme matches members with women leaders who are further along in their careers to provide guidance and insights on how to prepare for advancement, navigate challenges and pursue opportunities.

Sands China is committed to building and maintaining a respectful and equitable workplace. In advocating for and ensuring women’s rights, the company launched a policy for the prevention of sexual harassment and discrimination in July 2018, a first for Macao, together with a related company-wide training for all team members. The company also provides lactation rooms for mothers in its back-of-house team member areas across its properties and holds a wide array of parent-child activities to promote family harmony.
